How to Remove Odors in a Refrigerator

Ever had a strange odor hit you when you open your refrigerator door? It can sometimes be caused by something other than the left over food that you need to clean out. If you a have unpleasant odor that isn’t food related, you can wash the refrigerator out with very warm water and Vanilla Flavoring.
Mix to a large bowl of hot water (Tap Water) and a bottle of vanilla flavoring and wash the refrigerator wall, shelves and drawer out. This will kill a lot of odors. This is especially good to do in a refrigerator that has been in storage.

Another option to help eliminate odors is to crinkle the newspaper up and place it in the freezer and refrigerator area to neutralize odors. Be sure to only use the black and white sheets and not the color ad sheets. The charcoal in the newsprint works great to break up bad smells. You will need to replace the news print in a day or two it the odors is still there. This is especially good to use in a freezer when the ice sometime will pick up the food odors.
