Common Dishwasher Troubles

Common problems with Dishwasher

Here are a few common problems with dishwasher. Some of the solution could solve a few of your dishwasher issues.

Just one hint first. If you don’t lock the dishwasher door when it isn’t in use there are several advanges.

  • You have air circulating which can help with ordors.
  • If there is a storm or power surge the control board is protected, because there isn’t power going to the control board.
  • All new dishwasher have electronic controls so not making that final connection except when in use is a great habit.

Problem: Food left on dishes.

  • Over crowding or overloading a dishwasher can result in food particals remaining on dishes.
Check the Use’s guide for the proper loading of your dishwasher.
  • Using to much detergent can also result in a coating on the dishes that looks like a gritty
film. The newer Energy Star dishwashers use less water and require less detergent, normally 1/2 tablespoon
or to the first fill line in the dispenser cup is all that is needed.

Problem: Water temperature is too low.

  • Does your dishwasher have or do not have a heat booster?
  • Check your User’s Manual and it will tell you. If you don’t have the User’s Manual you can find the dishwasher brand and model and pull the User’s Manual on line.
  • No Heat Booster, run the hot water at the kitchen sink for a few minutes before starting the dishwasher.
  • If you DO have a heat booster but it’s not working – time to call for repair service.
  • A new problem which has occured with some dishwasher models is homes that have instance hot water heater
system, is that the hot water in the line isn’t hot enough for the detergent to dissolve, or allow the dishes
    to dry properly.

Problem: Detergent spots left on dishes

  • All New Dishwasher require a rinse agent to be used to aid in the rinse cycle. ( Example Finish, Jet Dry,ect.)
  • The rinse agent will last about 60 days or longer depending on the how may time you use your dishwasher
    .
  • Some dishwasher model have an indicator light that will let you know it is time to add the rinse agent.
  • Of course the spots are the first indication along with the dishes not drying properly.

My instance hot water heater is working, but my dishes are still dirty. I can't find my Use's guide but I did find my User's Manual. Thanks for the info.
